Faith Amid Frailty
Hebrews 11-12:1-3
In the English language “I hope so” is, in essence, carries within it a tinge of doubt. But the biblical meaning of the word “hope” in Hebrews 11:1 conveys the idea of waiting in trusting anticipation. Something hasn’t happened yet, but we KNOW it will, even when we can’t figure out how it will happen. Who among us is not facing, or will not someday face, a situation that has no obvious off switch or exit door? Who among us has never had, or will never have, questions that have no clear answers? Hebrews 11 invites us to journey with others like us to discover what faith is all about. And those first verses of Hebrews 12 tell us how to successfully complete that journey.
